History

Design and construction of Elm Grove started in the 1840’s and was completed in 1856. Over the last 150 years the house has been home to a range of owners including Sirs, Captains and Majors. During World War II the main house also became home, and school, to a number of child evacuees from London - some of whom have been back to visit us and share their stories.

The Rees family bought Elm Grove in 1957 as a family home, but due to its size it quickly transformed into country house guest accommodation and has been run by 3 successive generations of the family. Currently well into it’s 6th decade of welcoming guests to this beautiful location, the house has played host to a wide range guests from walking and painting parties, LGBTQ+ guests, classic car groups, couples and business travellers to families and well-known personalities.

To those of you who we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming before, we look forward to seeing you again soon.

For those of you looking for a relaxing stay in a beautiful location we look forward to seeing you at Elm Grove Country House.
